So...I'm working on being more of a "pack leader" ( to quote Cesar Milan) so that I can have better control of our rescue, Booker (a 7 year old boxer).

So far in the home he's been very sweet and submissive, but when we go for walks, he barks at and lunges at other dogs (not to fight...if I let him go, they'd be running around playing-he's very friendly)...

But how do I make him mind me better? I'm trying to take tips from Cesar Milan and project authority and confidence when we walk...but once I see another dog and anticipate the barking/annoyance, I get rigid and I know I project a nervous energy that makes him act up...

What do you all do that helps?

No dog advice really but I have 2 boxers! One fawn female, Starling, who is alpha dog and will dominate any female she comes in contact with. I hate that we cannot let her off her leash because she will attack another female dog. And then we have a brindle male, Ranger. He is so super sweet and a big ole lap dog. Startling just turned 2 in Jan and Ranger will be 2 in August. They are still young pups but very good family pets. They are bot so different. If I take Starling on a walk, she pulls...the whole time. She barks at anything and wants to RUN. Ranger is the best dog ever on the leash...just his nature I guess. He walks right beside me or behind me. When I run/jog he is behind me and its cool untill he is so close thatmy heels are kicking him! Maybe you could reward Booker with some treats when he is doing what is right???? I want to put Starling in doggy class....she needs it! They are both great dogs though.
