Sport Specific Encouragement

Anyone training for a specific sport fancy an exchange of ideas / encouragement?
I coach a local football / soccer team and recently made my competitive comeback after 5 years out injured, then fat then lazy.
I'd not long finished Insanity and was starting the Asylum, so was hoping to shed some more weight, get a good summer over me and maybe look at easing myself back into competitive action next season.
A major injury crisis meant I had to do 90 minutes on Saturday past.
While it was an achievement to last, it showed me that I still have a long way to go to play regularly and has somewhat renewed my desire to get there.
Anyone else in a similar boat... on the comeback trail?
