Hyperhidrosis--anyone else?

Hey everyone,

I have mild hyperhidrosis in my hands, feet and armpits. Even when I'm quite cool and not under any pressure, my palms can be sweaty enough to through my pants, and I have to be careful about what shirts i wear, because I can get huge gross sweat marks under my arms.

I've been doing some research, and besides having a complicated dangerous surgery to remove my sweat glands, there isn't much I can do. There are some temporary solutions, like botox injections into my hands or electrolysis, neither of which I'm prepared to do.

A few days ago I found another forum that suggested it might be a food intolerance, and going off of dairy or gluten might help. So I'm going to do a two week trial off of dairy (which starts today).

Has anyone else suffered from this problem and found something that works for them?

Are there any lactose intolerant members who wouldn't mind sharing a few recipes and tips for avoiding dairy? I'm finding it's in a heck of a lot more than I thought! I had 2 slices of toast this morning, and after checking the label, realized there was milk in that too.

Thanks!

Have you ever thought about taking an anti-cholinergic? Unfortunately, it does have some annoying side effects (dry mouth, dizziness), but it might be worth it. I am in medical school, so we haven't really studied any alternative medicine treatments. I hope you can find something to help you! Good luck! :flowerforyou:

Thanks for replying! No, I haven't taken any medications... most of what's available to 'treat' the condition has worse side-effects than the actual hand sweating. It is more of an annoyance, it prevents me from shaking hands and definitely limits the wardrobe choices.

If the cutting out dairy/gluten doesn't help, I'll look into the suggestion though. Thanks again!
