MFP gives a certain amount of protein per day. Is it bad to go over that? Isn't protein good for us?

You should increase your protein intake. You can change your settings manually. Its ideal to get at least your weight in Grams.
I get about 150g a day.
Which is more than my weight, I weigh 1220 -
Ya the numbers mfp gives you i don't like. I aim for 1g per lb of body weight as well and just make my custom %'s at least hit that number. You would have to consume crazy amounts of protein (like double your body weight for an extended period of time) to have any negative affect on your kidneys.0
