My first time counting Calories - very surprised!

Nice to have you here, and from Iceland no less; how cool is that!
My calorie mistake yesterday was the 750 calorie latte+scone. Ack! Learning how to fit things you enjoy into the day takes some getting used to, and you'll definitely want to get yourself a small kitchen scale, because those portion sizes definitely don't measure up to what you'd think they would be, particularly for things like pasta as was mentioned before. Keep positive about it all, don't get hung up on the little things, and you'll do well.
Also, make sure to check out the different groups in the forums section. Some of them are pretty amazing sources of info. If you think you might be interested in running and don't know where to start, then one I'd highly recommend is the C25K group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/30-couch-to-5k-running-program-c25k.
