I'm new here, and i'm going shopping tomorrow

But have no idea what to buy! I've just moved out and money is tight! What affordable, healthy things should I buy to start my journey! I'll be buying stuff for breakfast, lunch and dinner! But I have no clue what to get! I'm gonna start off with buying low fat yogurt and blueberries, and i'll be having it for breakfast! But I'm not sure on what else! Any help is appreciated!

first off google 'cheap healthy recipes' or 'low calorie on a budget' and get writing down some tasty meal ideas. Here's a couple of websites to get you started:

    http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/content/recipes/healthy/cheap-and-healthy/

    http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipes/tag-5518/cheap-healthy-recipes.aspx

    http://www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/cheap

-Invest in a crock pot/ slow cooker and make tasty soups/ stews/ chillis etc using inexpensive cuts of meat, grains, beans and bulk with veggies.

-Buy your dried/canned foods in bulk as this is cheaper.

    - Freeze any leftovers so you can use for lunches or another meal.

the following are cheap and can be used in lots of different meals:

    Rice
Beans, Pulses & Grains (like lentils, bulghar wheat, barley, cous cous, quinoa, kidney beans, chickpeas)
    Vegetables in season
    Fruits in season
    Oats/ Oatmeal
    Pasta
    Eggs
Cheap cuts of meat (Usually braising/ stewing cuts)
    Ground/ minced meat

Make a budget and then plan your cheap recipes/ weekly meal plan and only buy your ingredients for those meals so you do not overspend on uneccessary goods.

Finally- Do not shop for food when you are hungry!! You will spend a lot more!

    Buy these...

BREAKFAST: Forget the low-fat yogurt. Have EGGS or OATS for breakfast instead.

LUNCH: Tuna / Salad / cottage cheese / almonds / Bananas

DINNER: Chicken Breasts, Brown Rice, Wholemeal pasta, Sweet potato. Frozen fruit and veg are cheaper and have the same nutrition has fresh.

Bananas are cheap, filling and good for you (just dont have too many, they are quite high in kcals), cereal bars, Cous Cous (the packet ones you make yourself using boiling water), like above said, frozen veg is cheaper, also frozen white fish is fairly cheap. Soy sauce is good to liven things up. Eggs! Poached eggs on a slice of wholemeal is wonderful for breakfast.
