Sugar Replacements

I'm trying to stop using splenda and instead have replaced it with stevia. The problem is, I find stevia has a horrid aftertaste. Are there better natural options out there to sweeten my coffee??

Stevia does taste terrible. A sugar cube has 10 calories. Think one cube isn't enough? Pour another cup of coffee, "sweeten" it with Stevia and force yourself to drink at least half of it. Then pick up the coffee with one sugar cube in it. It will taste like bliss.0

I hate stevia. Honestly, Just have the sugar. Raw cane if possible (Demerara/brown something like this)
My view is it is far more unrefined than Stevia anyway. No sugar is good for you but seriously, if your calories are that reliant on a few tsp of sugar tipping you over in the day then make other changes to incorporate the sugar or put up your calories per day by 50. 50 cals won't make much of a difference.
If you are drinking 10 cups of sweetened coffee in a day you need to address your caffeine addiction but if you a drinking a reasonable amount, say 3 cups then grab the REAL sugar.0 -

I hate stevia... blechhhh.
I have tried Just Like sugar, expensive but good, Monk fruit, uhhh weird and tagatosse, more carbs and calories but closer.
Nothing is exactly like sugar.
I make do in my coffee with Artificial Sweetner.
I am a super-taster and a little bit goes a long way. Like a quarter of one of those packs per cup.
I believe for myself the little bit that I consume is less detrimental than what sugar does to me.

You are better off just getting used to NOT using sugar or sugar replacements. You need to get used to tasting things without added sweeteners . It doesn't take long for your tastes to adjust . Especially if you are wanting to lose weight.0

I'm on the small amounts of real sugar bandwagon. Artificial sweeteners give me a headache. Tru-via might task better (a more expensive Stevia extract) or you can check out Xylitol (Ideal is the usual brand I find). Honey or agave might work for you too.0

Try xylitol or erythritol. They are completely natural, very much like sugar, and xylitol in particular is actually very good for your gut and your teeth (whereas sugar is terrible for both).0

I found a liquid extract Stevia at my grocery store in the health food section. About 4 drops in a big glass of iced tea does the trick. I can still taste a tiny after taste but not nearly like the packages. I'm going to keep trying to use it to get away from packaged sweeteners too. Hopefully this will work.0

I personally stick with sweeteners as I don't have issues with them. I don't consume them frequently, maybe once to twice a day at most so I don't worry about it. There is nothing out there that proves sweeteners are terrible for us.
Try Truvia if you don't like Stevia... although it is made from the same plant I believe. Otherwise, either add the calories from the real stuff or keep using a sweetener.
I don't personally go for natural is best... of course it's better than a chemical but most things we consume are chemicals. Natural isn't always better.0 -
Truvia does not have the after taste; I use this in my coffee and oatmeal when I make from scratch.0

Getting used to coffee without sweetener is impossible for me because I HATE coffee. I get up at 4am every day and unfortunately NEED to have that caffeine to be functional.
I have PureVia packets and they are terrible in coffee. I'm honestly not a fan of real sugar either. I think I am just too used to Splenda in everything. I love tea (without sweetener) but my problem is that I cannot find an affordable to-go cup that will hold enough and not burn my hands while driving.
Meh. Maybe I should just run an IV of caffeine every morning =D

Have you tried the metal travel coffee mugs? I find those are great. I also have a Bodium tea/coffee mug that works great. I use it for loose leaf tea which I find is the best tea out there.
If you don't like coffee but need some caffiene in the mornings either go for an energy drink (the small cans) or get a great tea. Tons of travel mugs out there to pick from.
However, if you get enough sleep, are eating enough and properly and get proper amounts of vitamins and minerals you shouldn't need caffiene. I find when I workout regularly and eat properly along with taking my B vitamins I don't have to have coffee in the morning.0 -
I've been using a sprinkle of Truvia on grapefruit and can't even tell that it's not regular sugar. No aftertaste at all.0
