Gained 5 pounds in 3 days?!

Options
I recently upped my workout routine to walking 3 miles and jogging up stairs for 10 minutes with racquetball on the 'off days' . I started this routine on Friday.

I am normally around 160-163. I have been curious because my body doesn't feel any different from 163 so, I hip on the scale and it turns out I was 166.7!!
I've lost and maintained around 90-100 pounds for 2 years so, a 5-6 pound gain makes me question what I'm doing wrong. I haven't gone crazy with my diet. Lots of fruit and vegetables not too much sugar and chocolate. I'm just confused as to why I gained so much essentially over night...

Any ideas/suggestions?

You just changed your work out routine so you body is holding on to water (your muscles), In a few days that will be gone. Make sure you are eating more being you upped your workout.

Unless you ate 15,000+ calories you didn't really gain 5lbs =)

    Keep truckin' along =)

    Yup!

Muscles will hold more water when repairing themselves. This is nothing to do with fat.

An alien virus came along and dumped 17,500 calories of fat into your body.....................................or you retained water weight from more intense exercise.

Yeah, it happens with a new and intense routine - my first week of Insanity I watched the scale go up 3-4lbs.

I also crave salt sometimes when I'm working out harder. Pretzels cause a weight gain like that for me every time. The heavy salt on them, I'm guessing.

I can gain 5 pounds in one day... Weight fluctuations are totally normal. Take measurements or pictures and don't live or die by the scale, it is not your friend.
