Hi All,
Does anyone here do he Jillian Michaels DVDs? Not sure what to log it as for my exercies, also, does anyone have one of those bug burners that you wear during exercise that tells you how many cals you've burned, they any good?
Would be very happy if someone replied! Really want to stick to losing weight this time and be successful!

I log it as Circuit Training. Or if you know how many calories you burn, you enter your own0

I also log it as circuit training. I was reading about this online, and one woman had written down every exercize that she did in the DVD I was also using (Killer Thighs) and had something like 170 calories burned, and MFP says for 30 mins of circuit training, 200 cals are being burned, so it seemed to match up. Also, I try to work extra hard and move all the time so possibly I might burn more.0

Someone somewhere on here once posted that there is a formula... you burn 3.267 calories per pound per hour doing the 30 day shred (I don't know if that's the DVD you're doing, but I'm sure there are formulas out there for her other DVDs, too). So, you would multiply 3.267 by how many pounds you weigh then basically divide by 3 since each 3DS workout is 20 minutes...
According to the formula I burn 156 calories each time I do it, but I only eat back 100 of them.
*edited because I can't spell. =/0 -
I used to log as circuit training, but it overestimated calories burned for me at least. Now I use my HRM and log what that says. For one level of the 30 day shred, I usually burn about 170-180--slightly higher for the highest level. I'm 5'3'' 164lbs. Hope that helps!0

I just log it as "Ripped in 30" because that's the DVD I use. I just bought a heart rate monitor and will start wearing that when I do the DVDs as soon as I get it. On days when I do the DVD in addition to a cardio workout at the gym, I don't log it. But on days I only do the DVD, I tell MFP that I burn 250 calories. It's probably an underestimation, but I'd rather underestimate than overestimate and end up eating too much.0

I can't find my DVD's either so I just use Aerobics either low or high impact!0

Same as most replies I log them as circuits0

I did not know that either! Thank you! Do you think you can just use this for any of her workouts? They are similar in the idea of circuit training and all.. maybe the formula is the same?
I did a google search for a formula for Killer Thighs and Buns, but nothing came up..0 -
I log it as circuit training as well.0

My burns vary so much from day to day, it was worth investing in a heart rate monitor. One day I'll burn 240, the next 350. All depends on how hard you're pushing and how heavy your weights are, I suppose.0

Logging it as circuit training might work, but the calorie amounts on it were way off for me until I got a Polar FT4 heart rate monitor and measured what I burn. During 30 Day Shred I burn about 230.0

I'm not sure. I suppose it would be pretty similar. I've been searching online for other formulas but I can't find anything. =(0 -
I log it as circuits however MFP can be grossly inaccurate with its exercise cals so I always deduct 10% from it. I also don't count my warm up time. Without an HRM though it's near on impossible to get a good estimate of your calories burned, but I've found that this way works for me. Love Jillian and hope you enjoy her DVDs (as perverse as that sounds!) xx0
