Thoughts on sleep?

I know that I should be getting 8 hours of sleep per night to be healthy. I try my best, but it's just not always possible. Has anyone seen a change in weight/energy levels/etc. when you went from sleeping 6-6 1/2 hours to getting 8 per night?

I usually get 3-5 hours of sleep per night, so I couldn't tell you.

The '8 hour sleep' stuff is just a myth... everyone is different and may require a lot less/more.

Your body will tell you when you're tired so listen to it.

Don't bother trying to hit the 8 hour number all the time. It's really not necessary.

I don't think the changes in my sleep habits are due so much to changes in weight and/or exercises, but because I have cut out soda. I used to stay up, watching TV or doing FB until past mid-night and would get up at 7ish.

Now I am tired at 10:30 or so b/c I have worked out, I sleep very soundly and get up at 6ish.

I sleep until I wake up naturally most mornings, before the alarm goes off, and it doesn't seem to matter that it's rarely after a full 8 hours. It's what my body wants. I think that's the key. If you need a loud alarm clock to get you up in the morning then chances are you aren't getting enough sleep.
