Hello! I'm Randi, 36-year-old military wife and mother of 6. (Yes, that wasn't a typo. They are all mine, all from the same father, and all planned.
) In the past I've had rough pregnancies where I gain a boatload of weight. I've always been highly motivated to lose it after the baby is born, I think more out of the fear of going into the next impending pregnancy still carrying the physical baggage from the last one.
Alas, the baby factory is now closed, and apparently taken with it was my motivation to shed the pregnancy pounds. My youngest is now 3 1/2 years old and I'm still hovering within ten pounds of the weight I was the day I took her home from the hospital. I have never been so overweight so long in my life. I look in the mirror and wonder where that fitness junkie went who used to hit the gym as soon as the doctor ok'd it, who ate healthy the first day home from the hospital.
I want her back.
My goal is to be as fit as possible. I love working out. I love clean foods. (I love discovering new recipes which pack a healthful punch.) And a new thing that I am compelled to do: Run. I've never been a runner before, but I feel it calling me. I want to be able to run a 5k this summer. Eventually, I'd like to do a sprint triathlon. (I was a competitive swimmer in high school--oh so many years ago!) My favorite fitness magazines are Oxygen, Fitness Rx for Women, and Muscle & Fitness Hers.
I would love to have some friends, particularly if you're a little bit on the more hardcore side of fitness--or would like to be. I plan on getting my fitness mojo back. But honestly, I'll take any friend who is committed to their program, whatever it may be. I'd love to interact with people who are in the same head-space I am: "Come hell or high water, these pounds are coming off and I'm getting fit!"
I will let you know with my busy schedule, I don't often get to the computer more than once or twice a day (and I sadly don't have a smart phone). But if you friend me, I promise that I will interact with you--though sometimes my replies might be a little delayed.
Here's hoping for some new fitness friends. Heaven knows I don't have any in RL. (And truth be told, I actually prefer to work out alone in the gym. It's the only time a day I have all to myself.) I do have the unqualified support of my husband (and kids, too)--but he does PT with his unit and despite being in great shape, he's really not in love with fitness like I used to be--and plan to be again.
Thank you!

You have a great plan and that is the best way to start! I am not hardcore fitness so I won't send you a friend request. But I know you will be successful! (I think it is great you have six children by the way - I am one of six. My husband is retired Navy, I have a son-in-law in the Army and two of my brothers were in the Air Force - love the military!)
Best of luck!0 -
Thank you! We can be friends, though.
You don't have to be hardcore--I was just hoping for a few of those mixed in. If you don't mind, I'll add ya!
