I really think you should all take a hard look at yourself. This "boot strap" mentality will not serve you well. There will be a time in your life when you need help whether it be from friends, family, the government or strangers. It could be tomorrow or it could be in 50years but one day you will be eating your words.

OP had a fun idea and the hostile attitude of some of you is unbelievable. It wasn't like she had passed a bill. It was posted under a fun topics!

The bootstrap mentality will serve me a heck of a lot better than having my money that I rightfully earn taken and given to others who did not earn it. If I could keep my own money that is taken and put it in a savings account (or heck, even in my safe at home), I could weather most any issue that would come my way.

Don't think it's a government responsibility, nor can ours afford it. However, my daughter (11) came up with an idea for a non-profit organization that (for free) would teach people how to cook and eat healthily. I think that's a pretty cool idea.

On a more serious note, I'd like to create a high school health class that taught girls that they won't bulk up if they lift, the basics of maintaining a healthy metabolism, choices for balance calories in ->calories out in the real world and basic nutrition vs. broscience.

Honestly, I chose to hone my strengths and put them to work. I earn enough to take care of myself, my family and the people in our society that really need it. I just hate the thought of buying clothes when I have 17 more pounds to go.

How about a government program that gives you $1000 clothing allowance for every 20 pounds you lose?

how about a government program where they tax you an extra $100 for every bf% you are over the healthy range?

I could get behind that, and by that, I mean Jac.

I'm really loving how much you've been loving Jac's back today.

Yeah, I just bought a new belt. I refuse to buy new jeans until I get these last 3% off my body fat lol. So I pull the belt tighter. I am not looking forward to how much the new jeans are going to cost :-/
