just a quick workout question (:

When working out, must I keep it on a consistent time? Or am I able to workout different times? It sounds like a silly question - but due to my schedule, I can't workout at the same time, sometimes i'd have to work out one day in the morning, and another day at night.
A couple people has told me it's no big deal, as long as I workout.
A couple people also told me it's more difficult for my body to lose weight & it'll just feel like another activity with no results. Saying I'm doing more harm than good to my body.

Do it when you can.
Insulin resistance and hormones change during the day, but. who cares. do it when you can.0 -

I would pay good money for a quality peer-reviewed scientific study that shows how any conventional exercise session can do more harm than no exercise at all.
The best time to workout is when you have the time to do a quality one. A good hour's worth of exercise at 3am or 9:30pm > 15 minutes of exercise at nirvana o'clock.
If you are getting good hydration before, during, and after your workout, and have adequate pre- and post- nutrition, along with quality sleep, then exercising at any time you can get it in will be a postive.
Good luck!0 -
I have NEVER heard that you need to or should workout at the same time. I can't imagine why.0

thanks for the feedback,
and even a fitness instructor(though he said some pretty alarming things that sounded..made-up?) said that its best to have a workout at a certain time because then the body has a chance to adapt.
But thanks so much! Now I feel better0 -
ANYTIME, is a good time!0

Why would it matter? If you have the energy at that time of day -- the morning, the afternoon, the evening -- then go for it!
I've played in sports leagues where the games did not start until 10 p.m.
And, look, I turned out okay. . . .
Wait. Wut?0 -

I can understand the part about the body having a chance to adapt IF you're getting up early to workout because it can take a while to get your butt out of bed early in the morning and the more you do it the more used to it you'll be.
It doesn't matter when you workout as long as you can find the time to do it!0 -
It doesn't matter. A work out is a work out whether it's in the morning, in the arvo or evening, you're burning calories regardless. Infact its good to keep switching it up, keep your body guessing and so you don't get bored.
The best time to work out is the the time you can fit it in your schedule so that you actually do it. As long as you do it, then who cares? Whether it's the same time of say every day or it always changes.0 -
Time doesn't matter. Workout when it fits your schedule.0

sounds like the fitness instructor just wanted to make sure you'd join their class.0 -
It doesn't matter. I have no scientific evidence but you could probably argue switching times keeps the body guessing a bit and might be beneficial, just like muscle confusion in P90x.0

The only reason I could think it would matter is if you do a really tough workout at midnight and then do another at 6am without giving your body any time to recover. If you feel good I say go for it and just dont wear yourself out too much if the workouts are going to end up really close together.0
