So last night, my hubby was pulling up to the house just as I was taking our dog, Booker for a walk. He came along with us.

Booker usually has his nose to the ground, lifts his leg to EVERYTHING and pulls on the leash (especially when other dogs are around. He barks and practically flies off the leash).

My husband refuses to believe this, but Booker is a different dog with him around.

On our walk last night, he kept his head high, only stopped to mark something when we allowed him to and didn't bark at other dogs AT ALL. WHAT IS THIS? Why won't he do this when it's just me?! I'm trying so hard to exude that confidence that Cesar Milan always talks about and I'm firm but kind with him...

What am I doing wrong?! We're getting a puppy in a couple weeks to keep him company and give him someone to play with/get rid of his energy when we're at work...I want both of them to respect and obey me. :( Any help is appreciated. My husband must just have more confidence than me.

My wife has the same problem with our dogs. Dogs are pack animals and in the pack there is always the ALPHA. It starts when they are puppies and you need to demonstrate you are the ALPHA along with your husband. I know the problem with my wife is she refuses to properly discipline. Instead of being very stern she yells at them like she is talking to a baby. You have to exert dominance.

Well I think I can accomplish this with our new dog since she will only be 8 weeks...but Booker is a shelter dog and we got him when he was 5 years old...

He obeyed me perfectly yesterday...I guess I'll see on his walk today.
