Foot Injury and Excercise

So I brilliantly managed to get a contusion on the joint where my toe connects to my foot. Fortunately not broken, but painful and I have to avoid straining it if possible. This is the main spot that bears weight when I take a step so its rather tricky. I know I can cycle, and swim still, and need to ice it at intervals. Any other tips or tricks that my doc may not have mentioned?
Thanks.
Thanks.
