So I decided to do the Disney half marathon in January. I'm hoping to find other people who want to do this, or some other similar activity to start a support/accountability group. I know it's a long way away but I do best with long term goals. Any one else in? We can decide on a check in day and give each other online high fives after good runs!

If anyone has questions about the Disney marathon/half marathon I'd be happy to answer them. I may be slower than dirt but I have finished them before!

I want to do it, but not even ready to run a 5k the whole way yet.

Did you know if you do the half marathon at WD World and the half marathon at Disneyland in the same year you get a special medallion? That's why I want to do it. I'm in it for the swag. Sad, huh? LOL

I just started the C25K program, am on week 4 now. I am planning to continue on with a 10k, half marathon and marathon training after that so I could definitely use the support group. I don't have any specific runs in mind until next summer (other than a 5k on New Years Eve) but who knows what will find between now and then to participate in. Happy Running!

I don't know about a special medal for doing both half marathons... but that does sound cool! There are no rules about which races you are allowed to participate in. I know I have my Mickey (whole) and my Donald (half) medals and they sure are pretty! There is also the really insane Goofy medal (disney half on saturday and whole on sunday... Those people are looney! and very inspiring at the same time)
  • My mother just did the Disney half marathon this past January and I am so proud of her! It was actually what got me to finally do something about my current weight problems. She's twice my age and running a half marathon and I dont think I could run half a mile... that's just sad. Plus, up until a few years ago, she smoked her entire life...even more impressive! Good luck and keep at it!

Yes- If you do both marathons ( 1/2 and whole ) , it is referrd to as the "Goofy Challenge".
If you are really interested in doing a 1/2 marathon-I suggest you connect up with a local running club. There are many out there- many are free , and have a fabulous traing and support system. i started the 1/2 martahon journey 4 years ago and have accomplished 'events' I could never have imagined.
Please.......go about the journey the correct way. It is not something you do overnight ( similar to MFP)
It takes a great dal of discipline and time. HEY - if you are with MFP - you already know about discipline and time.
FWI -marathon events - wheter they be full opr 1/2's- are an incredible feeling!
