Why a "lifestyle" change over surgery

I had a best friend who several years ago had gotten gastric bypass surgery. She had a medical condition that was threatened her eyesight and really needed to loose weight fast. BUT... she had past mental issues that probably would have prevented her from getting this.

But she knew HOW to answer & what to say to make sure she got it.

She did - for the first year everything looked alright. Then as she got near the 100 lb gone, she changed.... drastically and painfully, to the point we aren't friends any more because of her "change". It hurts, but she is who she thinks she is and an adult, free to do as she wants. It just hurts, in more ways than I care to express.

Then today I saw this story on Yahoo and after reading it (and the lady's suffering with her weight loss surgery) I realized I was right in my decision in NOT getting this surgery to "make things easier".

I just wanted to share the story from Yahoo, to let people know, there are many ways to "loose weight" but the quick fix isn't always the right fix. People are too obsessed with "body image" and how others think they should look, act & feel.

I read and posted this yesterday. I don't know that it's even about WLS, but more about the fairytale of being thin, as if that is the solution to all our problems.

Thin make you thin. It doesn't make you happy.

YOU make you happy, no matter how big your body is.
