What else should/could I be doing?

I have been really dedicated to losing weight for about a month now. I have lost 12lbs so far.
I am eating 1600 calories a day and walking on my treadmill 6 days a week. I try and do better each time and add more minutes. Right now I am up to 50mins. I don't know if I should be doing weights or trying to do toning exercises since I still have a lot of weight to lose. I really don't know what else to do. I wouldn't mind joining a gym (something my hubby wants to do with me) but I am too nervous right now. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

    if you like ..you can try adding some workout dvds at home..this will same u some money ,time and they adds variety also.i do jillian michaels dvds and slim in 6(you can find them on amazon)

    If it ain't broke, don't fix it. 12lbs in a month is an incredible loss.

    You could consider doing some leg exercises to help support your walking. squats, lunges, plie squats, sumo kicks.

    And various core exercises will help too.
  • You need to add in weight lifting- building your muscles is going to help speed up your metabolism, in result helping your burn more calories and losing weight more quickly.
    HOwever- 12 pounds in 1 month is really good- so you will probably start to plato- adding the weights is going to help for sure. Recalculating your caloric intake might be a good idea too, the more you lose the less you are going to need to to be eating.
