Does anyone know much about protein?? I know with Carbs if you have too many it is turned to sugars and stored by your body which isn't good. What happens if you have too much protein as I am over today by 72.
I am classed as sedentry as I'm a stay at home mum and I do light exercise such as walking / cleaning and a small amount on an elliptical trainer.
I don't usually go over on my protein but I was curious as to what the side effects would be if it happened on a regular basis.

What is your protein goal? Because you can safely have around 120g (I often do) and I have read you would need in excess of 200g to cause any problems..0

I eat around 120-150 grams of protein everyday. I work out hard 6 days a wk tho! It def wont hurt you to go over!0

I posted a similar topic to this the other day because I am almost ALWAYS over on my protein - even on days that I exercise. I'm still nowhere near 120g per day (thanks for that number, MzMoonlight), though.
Anyway, the general consensus from the topic I posted was that you shouldn't really worry about it unless you have kidney problems, in which case there could be complications.0 -

My goal is 84 so it's put me on 156.
Thanks everyone for the info. I was just curious :-)0 -

For the Kidney issues you will have to consume over 30% of your calories from protein over a prolong period (months), MFP sets you up at 15% so you can double your protein amount everyday and be fine. If you are consistently going over you can change your settings to increase the protein % while dropping either fat or carbs.0 -

I may do that... I am almost always under on fat/carbs. Thanks!0 -
Hi! I'm only 2 days in and am having the same problem. I eat a decent amount of lean protein and some light cheeses and seem to always go over on proteins and under on fat and carbs. I recently starting doing cardio 3-4 days a week and don't want to sabotage myself early on. My protein is at 84 per day. Thanks for any input!0
