    @OP - There are too many to choose from:

    1. Chocolate Gellato - much denser than ice cream.
    2. Frozen Custard , Shake Shack in Manhattan. Higher butterfat than ice cream.
    3. Hawaiian Shave Ice, Waiola Shave Ice - finer than snow cones. Ice cream center with yummy syrup.
    4. Snow Ice, Snow Factory - Flavored Ice shavings. Similar to Shave Ice, but they used a flavored ice block.

    The single best would be the hazelnut gelato I had at Fontana di Trevi in Roma.

    Stateside, Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate. Or a good frozen yogurt shop where you add your own toppings!
