Tracking Net Calories

I am new to MFP, and I don't know if I am just slow, but I am not understanding the concept of tracking net calories. Ok, I thought that you lower your calorie intake, and then the more calories you burn, you lose weight faster. So, when I track my food and exercise, if I exercise more that day, I have more calories remaining to eat? I don't get it, doesn't that defeat the purpose of exercising and burning those calories u just burned by exercising? It may be a stupid question, but someone please explain to me. Thanks.

you burn calories just sitting and doing nothing...you want to workout to help get into better shape and help your metabolism...If you put in your info to mfp and say that you want to lose weight then it puts in a calorie deficit. Like my estimated calorie burn in a day is 2300 (approx not sure what the exact amount is) and mfp shows my daily calorie intake as 1370 making my calorie deficit 930 every day...if I work out then I eat back part of the calories (at least 50%) mainly because I'm super hungry after working out. Make healthy choices in your food and you will lose quickly but you don't want to send yourself into starvation mode either.0
