Fat Free

I am waiting on a gallbladder operation and have been told by the doctor I have to have a fat free diet until then - I am living on jacket potatoes, salad and fruit - does anyone have any fat free recipes or other food that I can eat (I cant eat dairy!) as I am so bored on it and its only been a week !! on the plus side I am losing weight and I am not getting any pain xx

Probably the answer you didnt want but, didnt your doctor offer any suggestions of a fat free, dairy free diet?

    That seems mighty restrictive?

you might want to try some new veggies ;o)

Your dr sounds mighty helpful by the way! A little guidance for you would have gone a long way. Labels time. read the labels!

And I cant remember what I was about to say (nothing unusual for me)

Didn't your doctor give you any clearer dietary guidance? That sounds like a very restrictive diet and as you say, rather dull. Presumably you can eat lean meat, fish and any sort of vegies? Pasta, rice, bread, beans etc. I think it's more about how you prepare things so you're not adding fat. If you're not used to cooking like this then get search online for fat-free recipes or get onto Amazon and find a good recipe book or two to get you going. Will benefit you long term not just in preparation for the op. A decent non-stick pan is also invaluable for cooking with little or no.

You do need some oils in your diet so check exactly what you are allowed to eat. Avocados? Nuts and seeds?

Good luck and I hope you're feeling a lot better soon (gallbladders are nasty things!).

Non oily fish, lean meats like chicken venison.
    A huge selection of vegetables
    Rice pasta couscous beans pulses
    Some cracker breads

Make your own pasta sauces, they don't need fat, just lots of flavor from herbs and spices.

    Good luck

I thiink it's odd you are asking us when a doctor put you on a diet like this. Why didn't this doctor give you strict instuctions if you aren't well? I would be following their instructions not ours.
