30 day shred and weight gain?

I am on week 9 of P90X Classic and the scale shows 7 pounds more since the first week of the program. I started at 140 pounds hoping to lose the last 10 pounds and now I have even more pounds to lose. I hoped that by week 6-7-8 my body would go back to normal but I see that this is not going to happen .. my clothes are tighter too and I KNOW that I am not eating so much more to put so many pounds in such a short frame of time. Something weird is happening to my body and I do not know what and how to fix it. I decreased my carbs intake and increased my protein intake and nothing happened. I just think that my body is very stubborn in front of diet and exercise. However, I have more muscle mass and look more toned, but my purpose was to lose a size too .. So, I am with you here..I hope you will have better results than I have.
Crossing my fingers for you that your body decides to give in and give up those extra pounds!!! I know just how you're feeling and it's not fun. I'm really hoping it's all worth it in the end!0 -
I just got done with day 1 of level 2. It's pretty hard but nice to be moving on to something new. The plank work is killer for me and some of the other moves are difficult for me too but I'm doing my best to do them. Trying to stay positive and hoping that moving on to the new level will produce new results!0

It is normal. It is not muscle. You're body is just adjusting to your new workouts. It will even out in due time. Give it a month or two, then your body will have adjusted and you can "trust" the scale a bit more.

Are your muscles sore? It's not mucle, but it could very well be water retention. Muscles tend to hold on to water as they are healing. I know I will ALWAYS be up when my muscles are sore.
^^this^^
Hang in there! You'll be so happy you did!
I've done the 30DS twice and had great results both times at the end of it. :happy:0 -
I am doing day 4 today.. hard not to dread that time of day each day because it is wearing me out, but so eager for the results some people are describing!!!0

Just finished day 2, level 2. I'm not enjoying this one like I did level 1 lol. I'm trying my best to do the moves without giving up toward the end and resting but it's really hard. The plank stuff is difficult for me and I hate those twist jump things lol. But I'm doing my best and at least trying to stay moving even if I can't do it just like they are. Thanks for all the support everyone...it's what's keeping me going!!!0

Same as you, last summer when I did the shred I gained about 4 pounds in 5 days. I didn't lose any weight from the shred by the end, only the 4 gained pounds went away, but I lost about 10" total. I'd rather lose inches than pounds anyday!0

That's motivating! I weigh in and measure tomorrow so we'll see if I've had any change since last week. I just want my hard work to pay off in some way! Lol!0 -
Just finished day 4 of level 2!!! Almost halfway there:happy:0

I'm halfway there!!! Day 5 of level 2 complete! It was weigh in day and as of this morning I had lost 3.6 lbs since last week. Not much change in inches as of yet. I've lost a total of 1.25 inches in the past week...that came off one of my arms and one of my legs and off my underbust measurements. Looking forward to finishing up level 2 and moving on!0

Hello ladies, I am on Level 3 day 4 and may I add some advice, that level 2 kinda sucks but level 3 makes it more than worth all that pain and soreness. So far I have lost 22.5 inches (as of day 10 level 2) and 4 lbs. Cannot wait to complete this and measure myself again, and then move on to Ripped in 30!0

This is why your weight on the scale went up. Ignore it. Stay off the scale except once a week.
I'm doing my best to avoid the scale! I should just hide it for a few weeks lol.
I'm on day four and I've gained like a pound a day since I started!
I was going to avoid the scales but I get too curious.
i'm trying to remind myself that it's just a number and it's water retention and I'll soon be "shredded"
(though my muscles actually feel pretty shredded right now)
Good thing I've been hydrating like crazy though!
I have faith in my body, I'm gonna be ripped. ;D0 -
Really glad I found this thread even though it's outdated. I just finished day 5 of level 1 and am gaining a couple ounces a day. Up to 1.7 lbs already. Extremely upset. But now that I see it's normal I'm going to try (my hardest) to not weigh myself except for 1x a week. I haven't re-taped myself yet, was planning on doing it at the end of each level. I will be pleased if I see results that way. A weight number isn't that big of a deal IF I'm losing inches.
I'm curious what the original poster ended up with for numbers at the end of the level 3.0 -
