Well...huge purses full of whatever and carry a toddler on your hip. Better yet, carry two toddlers, for symmetry!

I do this! My 4 year old and 2 year old weigh about the same. It's not a problem to carry both unless they start getting squirmy.

I must know this. I lift heavy weights at least 3x per week, eat lots of protein (and carbs and fat) often at a surplus, but I find it is just HARD to gain weight as lean muscle mass.

How do women just start lifting and immediately explode? I must know your secrets.

What exactly is it that you're looking for? Do you just want to gain lean muscle mass, or do you want to look cut?

I gain lean muscle mass very easily, but I never look cut. At one point in time (nearly twenty years ago), I was the strongest woman in my gym. But, while I had a nice firm looking physical shape, I never looked "cut." I worked with several different trainers and nutritionists over the course of six years. Each new trainer or nutritionist was always optimistic that we'd figure it out naturally (without juicing), but it never happened. Eventually I just accepted that I was never naturally going to look like Rachel McLish.

Your muscles actually look more cut when you're dehydrated. That's what they do for competition photoshoots. It's really not a healthy state to be in.

because there are she-hulks inside of all of us. lifting anything more than a purse will bring her out.
  • You need to eat at a calorie surplus to gain mass and get even somewhat bulky. U need to be eating more than maintenance and keep lifting heavy.

Exercises with weights make you bulky...

3 sets of 5 reps each...

    using 3lb pink dumbbells.

But they HAVE to be pink. Duh.

There's no secret. We don't bulk up with muscle. We naturally have more fat than men, so when we lift, we gain muscle which is then insulated by that nice layer of fat, thus giving the appearance of bulk. In order to lose the bulk appearance, we have to increase our cardio to get rid of the fat.

You have to be a pear shape

For some odd reason, they put on muscle really easy.. esp on their lower halves.

I disagree. I once went to the gym and instead of pink, they were neon green, still 3lbs. I thought they would be a bit much, being all manly colored, but I thought I would try them because everybody says to lift heavy.

The next day, I my bulging biceps ripped the arms out of my shirt.

There is no secret apart from consistency. Take photos of yourself as you go along and you will be surprised. I don't know how to put a photo up here but I went from having bingo wing nanna arms to being well on the way to a set of Des and Troy in 9 months. Most was done using bodyweight exercises and I have just started doing Grit Strength and some weight work to work on my neck, back and legs.

The photos I took really showed the differences I made.

Dude I dunno. I was riding a bicycle and squatting my bodyweight (no big bulky heavy pieces of iron here, just me) and within two months my thighs were like HYOOOOGE. I figured I'd better start walking...slowly...wouldn't want to walk too fast and then have my calves get all hyooooge too. Gawd. Sometimes being a woman really sucks.

    you too?

i thought it was just me!

It's the cleanses, they release the toxins that inhibit bulk. If you are having trouble bulking, you obviously are loaded with toxins, lots and lots of toxins.

The secret for men is chest/back hair.
The secret for women is a moustache.

Natural testosterone and growth hormone levels (i.e. if you have never taken supplements, worked out, had HRT, etc.) are one of the things that contribute to how easy it is to gain muscle, as is body type (although whether natural levels are a result of natural body type or it's the other way around or it's even "mesomorphs have thick hair because they are mesomorphs", who knows).

Without a brain transplant, however, you have to work with what you have. Once you know what you have, adapt your workouts to "what might work" for your body type. In the case of hard-gainers, that is typically typing 'ectomorph gain muscle' into your favourite search engine and weeding out the rubbish.

You're not getting enough estrogen. They put it in chicken and milk. Eat more chicken and milk.

Then your boobies will grow too!

no wonder my breasts are still the same size with weight loss and lifting...i love milk and chicken!!
