*ALERT!*
Most people know about fraudulent check scams but I feel I need remind everyone as I have been taking calls all day about it. The company I work for is recording information. It probably wont do any good, but...this is my job.
I've been dealing with a situation at work where someone has been using our account with a shipper to send out fraudulent checks from another company. This morning, I received 4 calls from individuals saying the checks themselves are now coming from our company for large amounts of money. Two of the calls I took, the caller posted an ad on Craigslist to rent a residence or seeking a job. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch out for this stuff. The checks are for large amounts of money-you may not know why or this might be in response to something you've put up for sale online. The return address on the check and the envelope it was sent in do not match. These checks look very real and they are coming from well known financial institutions. If you receive anything like this, gather your information and report it to the company and your financial institution. Please remember, if it is too good to be true then it probably is.
