Less hungry later in the day if you eat a big breakfast?

I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this. On mornings where I "cheat" and have a big breakfast -- anything from eggs and toast to a scone and coffee on the way to work (5-600 cals) -- I'm MUCH less hungry later in the day. Like, I'll eat a regular lunch, and then I can go until early evening before I start getting hungry, rather than at 3pm being so hungry I can't concentrate.

It doesn't seem to matter if I've portioned out my cals to be weighted towards the evening or towards the morning. But, it's super annoying to eat over a third of my calories of the day by 9am!

Anyone else experienced this?

i used to be the opposite. i never ate breakfast in HS because i'd be hungry by 10 a.m. It was easier to wait until lunch if i hadn't eaten. my tummy just shut down the hunger signals. now i eat 3 meals a day with snacks, and i have a heavy breakfast and a heavy dinner. i don't think that the size of my breakfast has too much of an effect, since i'm forcing myself to eat at certain times no matter what in order to get in my daily goal.

I've always thought it was the point of having a big breakfast. I guess it works for me too but I have to have a 600 calories breakfast or something. And it freaks me out to have more than 1/3 of my calories before 10am. So I did it once. Typically my meals are 300 calories, and I have 500 calories in snacks.
