I have a quite active job and have never been a big eater. I started using my fitness pal and nearly every day it says I am not eating enough so I am not losing weight because my body is in starvation mode. I am trying to eat more so my body no longer thinks it is starving but that means the pound a week I was losing has now stopped and I am getting more and more belly fat. Does anyone know how long it will take for my body to realise it is not starving and therefore stop storing fat? ??? I am finding it hard to believe that if I eat more I will lose weight so still find it hard to eat more. Help! !!!

    How much are you eating?

I was eating too little and I wasn't eating back what I worked off, so I began to plateau and gain weight. I upped my calorie intake from 1200 to 1500/1600 and I make sure I eat back at least 85% of what I work off through exercise. As much as I love food, it's hard getting used to eating more, I get full easy, so snacking throughout the day helps.

I was afraid I would gain if I increased my food intake. It has only been about a week that I've been doing this, but I already see it helping. I've lost three pounds since I started.

It is recommended that you eat a minimum of cals stated in your BMR which can be found on this site at the top under 'apps' . Im not sure how long it will take your body, im assuming it is different for everyone, but i really dont know. Try toning exercises to get rid of the belly rather than cardio, which burns even more calories. And most importantly-dont give up! You could try asking a pharmacist or in shops like Holland and Barrett for suppliments if you need more but cant physically eat it.
