Taking the cheese away...

... and putting it in my parents' fridge. Enough!

The other day I found lactose-free mozzarella cheese. Amazing! SO many calories though, and it still leaves me feeling bloated. Lactose-free is better than not-lactose-free, but dairy and I really shouldn't be hanging out.

I had been feeling better today, until I ate a couple of small slices of the cheese. Now I feel bloated again, and just kind of blah. I just can't have this stuff in my house, or I'm going to keep eating it.

Despite the discomfort now, I feel a bit on the triumphant side having made this decision. Yeah!

Each person is so different from others! Do what is best for your body. If it bothers you, get rid of it! Good for you!

Maybe you're allergic to something in dairy besides lactose? I'm allergic to casien which is lactose-free cheese so I get dairy-free cheese like daiya. Admittedly I don't have that often much either. But cutting dairy cut out a bunch of fat for me since I used to pretty much have dairy at every meal. Also cut away my allergies.

The problem for me is *ahem* digestion. I have endometriosis around (and maybe on?) my stomach and bowel (and other areas) so there are some foods I just really can't digest any more. It's why I had to go gluten-free, too. These types of intolerances are really common for women with endo. Initially it was the lactose that was making me feel off, but even LF isn't cutting it anymore. On the days I don't eat any dairy at all, I feel so much better.

The sad part is that I LOVE dairy products - especially cheese. *tear* But you know, not feeling like garbage is worth it.

As an aside, I've had daiya on pizza once, and I found it to be gross. Maybe it was just a weird one-off thing and I should try it again, but I wasn't impressed. :s

Have you tried taking Lactase (the enzyme that people with lactose intolerance lack)?

I've taken Lactaid, and it helps with some of the symptoms, but not all. I think the problem is with the dairy overall, not just the lactose. Thanks for the idea though!
