Good program to prep for extreme obstacle race?

I'm doing a Spartan in June and starting to get a little freaked out. The penalty for not completing an obstacle is 30 burpees. (Oh how I hate burpees)

My lower body strength is pretty solid, but I'm a weakling upper body wise. Obstacles that worry me are monkey bars, spear throwing and rope climbing. Because of safety issues, there isn't even a playground set of monkey bars around for me to torture myself on.

I have a push up app I'm working with. The gym does have an assisted pull-up machine, but I want to build up some upper body confidence before that race (and countless burpees)!

    Grip strength! That has been such a huge difference maker for myself and friends I convince to join me. Farmers carry and I love carrying weight plates with a pinch grip. It helps with every obstacle.
