Are these shoes okay for squats and deadlifts

By the way, I brought these last year before I started lifting but never really wore them so they're virtually new.

Yep, they will be fine. I squat and deadlift in shoes similar to that.

Some people prefer otherwise (oly shoes for squats...barefoot for deadlifts...etc) but really it's just whatever you feel comfortable in.

I normally squat and deadlift barefoot, but there's one instructor at my gym who says it's against the gym rules.

If you prefer barefoot, but are not allowed, have you tried those toes shoes? I've seen a couple of people wear them - meant to be like barefoot.

Those shoes you posted will be fine though, no point in changing/buying something else IMO unless you really dislike wearing the ones you have.

I started in Vibrams, but needed to get a proper shoe so I could work out in a cold garage through the winter and wear socks (plus most competitions require a shoe lol), so I got a pair of Converse not all that different from what you are showing. They work just fine.

All that's really important is that you have a flat, non compressing sole.
