im really only asking b/c im curious - does anyone actually track gum? i know i dont have 30 lbs to lose because im a gum chewer ;-) i track everything (down to the gram if im home, and i estimate the best i can when im out)- but i have never tracked gum. i chew sugarfree gum, and over the course of a work day i might chew half a pack... but i assume i burn off the cals as i chew it.

i'd log a mint if i ate one...i dont know why i think gum is exempt from the same kind of treatment. just curious if anyone else logs it...

    I haven't tracked gum myself. How many calories in sugar free gum? You are probably correct that you burn more calories chewing it then there is in it. :)

    Logging everything is a good habit. The error inherently built into logging through no fault of your own makes things like gum a moot point, nevertheless the more accurate you are the more success you'll have.

    some are <3 some are <5 cals. i guess a whole pack could add up to 60-100 cals... but ive never had a whole pack in a day :)

    yes but you've had 1/2 a pack routinely, you say. assuming it's the 5 calorie kind, that's 50ish extra, uncounted calories a day, 250 extra uncounted calories a week, etc. That's pretty significant.

    I sincerely doubt you gained 30lbs because you chew gum.

    But yes, if I ate gum (which I don't), I would count it.

    I count everything I eat. It's good to train yourself to develop good logging habits if your serious about losing.

    I don't really chew gum myself but I will log a french fry stolen from a companions plate! LOL

    If your counting then i would count everything. I count my gum.

    My gum has 5 calories per stick... pretty insignificant to me, but I log any ways out of habit.
