Too much fruit?!

So, I've decided the area I really need to improve on is increasing my protein intake, and after analyzing my diet, I've realized that the biggest reason my protein intake is as low as it is, is because I am such a fruit addict! Most days I'll get about half (if not more) of my calories just from fruit...I never saw this as an issue before, but now that I'm upping my protein intake, I'll need those calories from the carbs and sugars in fruit taken up with protein instead

SO, something I never thought I'd say...I need to drastically cut down my fruit intake! For me this will be wayyy harder than cutting down on candy, chocolate, bread and pasta...any tips at all on how to get over this? Any magical fruits that have high protein levels?!! Ways to have fruit and make it protein-y (apart from with greek yogurt - already got that one down :))

Thanks for any support! I'm feeling irrationally annoyed about this right now. I have such a major sweet tooth and since cutting down on candy, fruit has been a lifesaver to stop me from unhealthily binging on sweets.

Try to pick fruits with lower Glycemic index, lower in sugar content. Easy way to remember

Berries - in general, the fruits lowest in sugar -- and also among the highest in antioxidants and other nutrients.
Summer fruit- melons, apricots, peaches, nectarines-- low to moderate GI
Winter fruit- apples, pears, citrus fruit - moderate GI/sugar
Tropical fruit - mango, pineapple, bananas, pomegranate, plus grapes and cherries- high GI.

I think fruits are super healthy and nutritious food. Try keeping your servings to 2-3 per day of low to moderate GI and you should be good. I love bananas and pineapples but lately I've been having it only few times per week. A protein shake made with fruit and protein powder will help meet your protein goals plus it will be sweet and yummy when combined with some fruit.
