I am at a total loss. Yesterday I added the sugar tab on my food diary and didn't realize how much sugar I consume. Today with just breakfast and an 8 oz glass of V-8, I am already at my limit. I am such a picky eater and there are so many foods I don't like and some I never heard of that I really don't know what to do. I hate oatmeal, never did like it, I can't stand skim milk and I can't afford the fancy foods etc. Does anyone have any suggestions? I sure could use the help.

I can never stay under my sugar!!! But I've lost 22 pounds... so... I dunno I just try to stay away from "added" sugar.

There is such a thing as good sugar so don't panic just yet!

Natural sugar in food like apples I don't worry about. I actually took sugar off because I was always going over because I eat 3 or 4 pieces of fruit every day and that alone always took me over.

Natural is ok, anything else needs to be watched carefully

I just added sugar to take a look and I too am totally off every day (removed it instantly!).

Most of my sugars are coming from fruit, so I figure I'm ok :)

I don't worry about my sugar so much because I do eat (mostly) good sugars.

With that said, too much of a good thing is a bad thing. Sure, fruit is healthy... but not in excess. Multiple pieces of sugary fruits is no good when you are aiming for a balanced diet.

I too was shocked when I added the sugar column because I never considered myself a high sugar eater. I agree there are 'good' sugars like in fruit, and 'added' sugar in candy, cake, processed foods, etc. that need to be kept to a minimum. Especially avoid high fructose corn syrup because this plays havoc with your metabolism. Even cane sugar, agave, and other sugars should be used sparingly. Stevia is a good substitute for any 'added' sugar you might want.

I don't count my sugar either because I do not have many added sugars - but I eat a lot of fruit. One thing to keep in mind though is that it's MUCH better to eat your calories than to drink them... so be careful with your V8. In fruit/veggie juices you're not getting as much of the wholesome fiber that comes from eating them fresh.

I always thought V-8 was a good source of veggies seeing that I only usually eat veggies with dinner?
