Ugh - I hope you make a full recovery soon!

I don't know how many calories it takes to survive norovirus, but fluids are more to the point.....giving blood expends about 600 calories.

I believe there is a create your own exercise option for the database. You could, if you'd like, create an exercise that details your GI woes. Perhaps wear an HRM the next time you feel the urge to violently evacuate your bowels? Feel better, and Good Luck!

You won't die. You'll wish you died before its done though. I whimped out and went to the ER when I had it They drugged me and there was finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

I had a child in school every single year from 1977 until 2009, and every single year one or all of them brought home the current variation of the Norovirus. It is one of the worst things ever, but at least that first time on the scale after you're feeling better will be awesome to see!

You definitely have my sympathy. The last time I had that I remember my husband asking if I was going to die and if he needed to take me to the hospital haha I was so mad at him for giving it to me, and for getting over it so quickly himself. It's horrible!! You'll like the results on the scale after, but I don't know if the torture is even worth it lol Hopefully it'll pass quickly - feel better soon!

That's the energy it takes to replace what you donate, so go ahead and have the free ice cream afterward!

I got it last week. I gained my water weight back and haven't seemed to lose any extra.

Only over the course of about six weeks, not all in one day.
  • I've had it for the last couple of days. It's been rough to say the least. Today I'm trying to go to work but I'm still so dehydrated that I have a raging headache. People are all like "drink tons of water" but when you just vomit it all back up, it's not that much fun.

It will pass, though. I hope you feel better soon!

Norovirus is ghastly. I've only had it once I think and I ended up on the toilet with a bucket on my lap evacuating both ends simultaneously. Horrible, horrible horrible!

My sympathies.. I had this before christmas 2012 and I have never bene so ill... nearly went to hospital as really dehydrated ss i could not even keep water in. After speaking with NHS direct - I tried a few tips :- if you can't manage to drink water, try sucking ice cubes(or just rubbing them on your lips will melt them) - or an ice lolly if you can, I found tiny sips was the best way also, my best advice would be something to replace the lost electrolytes etc in your body ( or what ever it is ) i had diorolyte sachets (bought from supermarket) and god thy were very helpful.
I hope you start to recover soon, on a side note, I did lose several pounds BUT be careful as when the apetite comes back you may be ravenous for lots of things you have not eaten for a while.......get well.

You are lucky they medicated you. I had it for a week straight, was so dehydrated I was dizzy. Went to my doctor and they told me there was nothing they could do, that I had to tough it out. I should have gone to the ER, maybe they would have given me some IV fluids. *shrug* But we are both still alive, so yay for that!

OP, I feel your pain and hope you feel better soon. I suggest popsicles and gatorade, and if you can get those pedialyte popsicles, even better. Hang in there.
