The father of bodybuilding.. RIP!0

He wasn't the father of anything. He was the Pimp of Bodybuilding.
RIP and I'm happy he lived a long life. But all he did on this Earth was make money like any other successful businessman.
All you people giving him props for being the father of bodybuilding probably thought there were WMD's in Iraq too. Seek out the truth. Don't believe #$$# just because everyone else says it.0 -

This doesn't make any sense. You make it sound like making money off something you love and something you helped build in the world is evil? it should be admired.0 -

Bodybuilding would have died in the 50's, if it wasn't for Weider bringing it to the masses.0 -

Aww damn. I grew up with him as my fitness icon in the 80s and 90s. If so, he lived til his 90s. That's pretty damn good.
I thank him for all he did for me. How is Betty Weider? Thanks for the tribute Taso!0 -

Great article about him in the NYT today. My favorite quote (from Arnold, no less),"He was the godfather of fitness who told all of us to be somebody with a body. He taught us that through hard work and training we could all be champions." 'nuf said.0

Joe Weider made bodybuilding information accessible to the general public. I still remember starting to lift after reading about Cory Everson and Rachel McLish in Shape Magazine in the eighties. RIP0
