Is this true or did I make it up?

I make things up on accident sometimes. Is it true you are supposed to "break" from your diet and go up to maintenance every once in a while?

Not a complete non-logging break of unhealthy foods, just bumping up to that maintenance amount so your body can recover? I've been doing this for over a year and I've noticed I've kinda stalled and only lost around 5 pounds this year.

I've already upped them a little to losing 1 pound instead of 2 a week, but didn't know if I needed to do more so gonna ask ya'll :)

Nah, you didn't make it up. The idea is that your body gets used to a deficit, and slows metabolism to adjust to eating less. If you go back to maintenance for a few weeks, you "reset" this so your metabolism goes back to normal. Then, when you cut calories again, you go back to losing weight. People have posted that it helps when you hit a plateau.

I didn't post before because I've never actually done it, and figured someone who had would chime in and probably explain it better.
