    I like this one....

the less gimmicks the better. I believe everyone should take this supplement, if nothing else.

I take Fish, Flaxseeg and Borage Oil its is a Omega 3,6,9 all in 1 pill. You get it a Wal-Mart for around $6.50 for a 2 month supply and it made by Spring Valley. My doctor told me about it around year ago.

I just started taking one, Natures Bounty Triple Strength Fish Oil - 1400mg 980 Mg Omega 3, 1 softgel, encapsulated so no fish taste or fish burps, lol

If you buy fish oil, make sure you are getting a nice dose of the Omega 3. Most seem to have 360 or so Mg of it. The gels I'm taking are rather large.

That's what I use. I think 100 pills is like $13 at Walmart.

I don't know why you'd buy a pill with omega 6 or 9 in it. And not all omega 3 is created equal - EPA and DHA are what you want. The omega 3 in flaxseed oil does not really do much of anything for you.

You really want to make sure you're getting at least in the neighborhood of 1000 mg EPA+DHA a day.

    I take PurePharma

Eta: it does not have 6 or 9 in it. And has EPA/DHA in 5:2 ratio.

It's expensive, but I only take one a day since it has 1000 mg of EPA per pill. No fish taste at all as it's a pill! Also, it's purified/pharmaceutical grade, so no mercury and PCBs.

I just take the caplets but I recommend taking them before bed.... to avoid the fish oil burps.

I take carlson's "very finest" cod fish liver oil. It's lemon flavored and a liquid, cuz I get sick of swollowing so many pills. I really thought it would be disgusting, but it has no fish taste at all. I just gulp a tablespoon of it in the am before my coffee, but you could add it to a salad dressing or whatever.

It has 4,800mg's omega 3 for 1 tbl. so its power packed and it's bottled in Norway.

Carlson Norwegian Cod Liver Oil "Lightly Lemon" flavored. Pretty much because this is what my wife bought a long time ago and I just went with it. It doesn't taste that bad with the lemon flavor (especially mixed in OJ).

$9 for 60 capsules, each of which has about 900 mg of EPA+DHA.

That NutriGold above looks good too - $35 for 180 capsules, each of which has 1060 mg EPA+DHA. I might get that next.
  • Yes, this a great low cost supplement. I take it also. :)

On another fish oil thread, someone had provided a link to "certified" fish oil, which has been tested to verify that it actually contains what it says it contains. The list isn't all inclusive, and there doesn't seem to be a list of products that failed (so if it's not on the list, you can't be sure if it failed or if the company hasn't bothered to get tested). I chose mine based off cost, but still on the list. Currently I'm taking omapure capsules, but once I finish my supply, thinking about switching to the liquid because the capsules are huge, and I need four of them.

  • Fish oil effects on weight loss are accelerated greatly when paired with L-Carnitine (unsure of spelling), which is an amino acid that has a plethora of benefits. Its supposed to be taken at a 5 to 1 ratio, so if you take 20g of fish oil, you would take 4g of L-Carnitine.

Wait, who takes fish oil for weight loss? I just take it because I hate fish...

L-carnitine taken orally has shown little effect on weightloss. The benefits of injecting L-carnitine subcutaneously or intramuscularly are also highly debatable. I've heard of more people using ALCAR, but that is mostly for brain tissue benefits.
