1200 Calories Left @ 10:30

So I did some exercise today and earned 1400 calories. Now it's 10:35 at night and I have 1200. Should I eat them, or leave them and risk overeating tomorrow?

If you are hungry, eat them. if not leave it...One day will not make any difference - and if you eat some of it tomorrow, also fine, your body does not know midnight happened....

What's your plan? If it's eat X calories/day, you should hit that. There's nothing wrong with having 1200 calories in one sitting, especially if you risk binging otherwise.

Don't eat tonight (unless you're absolutely gonna-pass-out starving). Your metabolism slows down while you sleep so you're body won't burn anything you eat now. Just go to sleep knowing you kicked butt with your workout today!

If you are hungry, eat what you need, but otherwise you are defeating the purpose of the concept of eating at a calorie deficit. You may need that some other time, when you didn't do quite so well!

OK, so it sounds like I should eat them if I'm hungry. Railr0aderTon - wow, 114 lbs lost? So I think you're saying that I should eat the calories back?

well I am not sure today that you should, I am saying you should start eatting more in general, I am not sure it is advisable to eat 1200 calories before bed, not because of any faux science but because it could mess up your sleep. I would eat something if you are hungry, get a good nights sleep and start fresh tomorrow.
But in general eat back your exercise calories unless you already have your exercise worked into your plan.
    Best of luck.

Agree with the above, but going forward I think you need to plan out your exercise and eating better. That sort of daily undereating will get counterproductive very quickly and your metabolism will begin to think you are starving.

I actually enter my meals and exercise into MFP in the morning for the whole day. It helps keep me on plan and stop temptation.

Also, what exactly did you do that netted you 1400 calories? I'm 6'3 and 285lbs, and I did 65 minutes at level 11 intensity on the elliptical machines and burned just under 1000.

I had 1095 calories left, but I'm not hungry, so I'm just going to go to bed.

    Yeah, not true.

OP, if you are hungry, eat. Work on balancing out the week if it worries you. Either way, one day isn't going to mess up your progress so far or to come.

    Yep!

I would eat... personally, I won't risk slowing down my metabolism even if it's for one day! The supposed "eating before bed will make you gain weight" is a myth.
