Dining Out - Learned a Lesson

I dined out for the first time since seriously counting on MFP. I still ate throughout the day to keep up my metabolism but was careful to save and alot for my big night out. I had looked so forward to this! BUT......My lesson learned is before you go to the restaurant, go ahead and enter in your MFP everything that you think you might order and see how many calories things are before you get there. I just did a guesstimate of what I thought my steak and salad and plain baked potato would be. What I DIDN"T allow for was the Onion Blossom that my husband ordered and I thought I would just eat some of. If I had realized just how fattening those are..... I would have avoided completely, let alone eaten as much of it as I did! I think a dessert would have been a better choice than that Bloomin' Onion! Did you know that a whole onion is 1959 Calories! And they claim it's 6 servings but watching most people eat, it's consumed by just 2 people?
Next time we go out, I'm entering items and checking values BEFORE I order or eat. Planning makes the difference!

You can also check the restaurants website, some allow you to build your meal so you can specialize what you get. Doing this before heading out is a great way to help you make better choices.0
