Had a really great day yesterday - exercised, ate well and felt good. Then in the late evening I had a craving for something sweet and ate a ton of chocolate and biscuits. Why do I go and to that?

Did get up early and walk for an hour this morning though which makes me feel a little better.

  • That is exactly what's been happening to me !!! As soon as evening comes all of my motivation and will power goes out the window !!! I don't have any answer for you though.
Last night I was really good, I exercised when the kids went to bed instead of sitting in front of the tv and when I heard the snacks calling to me, I just went to bed !!! for me I think it's just a habit that has to be broken.
  • You're on the right path by getting up early and walking today. Don't let a slip up ruin your mental strength - each day and each meal is an opportunity to continue on the way to a healthy weight and a healthy body! Keep up the good work! (AND if you can find the answer to "Why do I go and do that?", you get the prize! I just asked my carpool-mate this morning..."Why do smart people do dumb things? Why, when we know something's not good for us, we do it anyway?" Certainly one of life's most difficult questions! )

I can identify too. I do that as well. I need to dig deep and figure out why I let that happen after such a good day. Hang in there, tomorrow is another day.

This is a great thread that has helped me. It's nice to have support and encouragement...and accountability. A new "challenge" is going to be starting Saturday with the new month of May. Come join us.
  • I've felt exactly the same!! All I can really say is, whenever I get cravings, I just log onto MFP to distract myself and to remind myself or my goals. Of course, this tactic isn't for everybody.

I haven't been here for two weeks - first my favorite cousin died, and I spent a week traveling to and from the funeral, then, when I got off the plane, I had to go right to the hospital with an abscessed jaw - if you think a regular diet is hard, try living on liquids for two weeks. Well, things are looking up and i GO HOME TOMMORROW. I wonder if I've lost weight - if I have it will be the worst diet I've ever been on! ;-) Just wanted to sound off and say that I will be back on the forum in a few days.

Good for you for getting up this morning and getting a walk in:drinker: Unless I plan it in my day, chocolate can be dangerous so sometimes I'll have some frozen green grapes, a piece of PB & banana toast, or a serving of raisins/raw almonds. OH! But not all those mixed together in one sitting. lol Those are simply examples I might try out before I grabbed something I Might not have as much control over. But I do understand impulsive eating and trying to plan when feeling that way is not as easy.:noway:

I typically try and mix it up a bit by having carbs along with protein so I don't crave more carbs right after. It might help to begin journaling or start a blog on the feelings just before you grab that sweet choice. If you had a great day it might have been more emotional than anything else or maybe you really did need something carb related. Writing seems to really help me figure it out, hopefully BEFORE I have the incident but even if I figure out the reason it happened after I can learn from that as well.

Just tossing some ideas out your way.

proud of you for going on that walk:wink::drinker:
