30 day shred- TIGHT muscles in shoulders & neck!

This is probably a dumb question, but it never hurts to ask, right?

I already have problems with my neck & shoulder muscles tightening up all the time... my husband has to rub them some evenings just so I can relax enough to go to sleep, and he says it feels like I have golf balls in the muscles because they bunch up so badly.
I am on level 3 of the 30 day shred (going to do day 3 today!), and Level 1 gave me no problems... in fact, I felt looser and better than ever, and I figured it was because my muscles were getting stretched and used more than normal.
But, starting around level 2 I noticed that my neck and shoulders were tighter than ever. Last night they were so bad I wanted to cry. My hubby has watched me work out and helps me out if my form is bad, so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong there.
Is it normal for this to happen? It's not normal "soreness" from exercise I'm not used to... it is just plan old legit tight muscles. Is there anything I should be doing differently to help it?
