Questions for the Coffee Drinkers....

I drink a lot of coffee! I haven't cut it out completely, but I have cut down. Instead of 2 pots a day now I drink half a pot. I don't use creamer or sugar in it, straight coffee only. I have lost 21lbs since January, so I don't think it is taking a toll on my progress.0

I drink 2 or more cups of coffee daily, with real sugar and sweetened almond milk. I currently weigh 102 lbs. Coffee has definitely not stopped me from losing weight.0

I was one of those ppl that had to have massive amounts of cream and sugar in my coffee, when I started in Jan I just stopped drinking it and (soda) but being a mom of 4 kids I have to have caffeine, so I am now and always will be a black coffee drinker.0

I drink it each morning with powdered creamer and artificial swetner. Not too many calories that way. Liquid creamers have more calories.0

black Coffee has ZERO nutritional value.
It can aid weight-loss due to it's caffiene content which is a hunger suppressant. So you don't need to kick it. Enjoy it.

I can go through an entire pot in a day. I quit smoking, I quit wheat, I quit sugar. Take away my coffee and people are going to get hurt.0

Caffeine increases your metabolism, so it's actually good for your diet. Since I can rarely be bothered with fixing coffee in the morning, I often take caffeine pills instead. Just make sure you don't negate the benefit by loading up on sugar and cream.0

I drink coffee nearly every day and have managed to lose just over 20 lbs. I only ever just add a bit of milk (preferably skim) to it. I'm not sure I understand the stigma around coffee and health though...in my opinion it's an all around miracle drink because it gives you enery, curbs your hunger, keeps you regular, barely has any calories and tastes great... what's not to love abuot it? I guess there's the whole moderation thing but 1-2 cups a day I don't think is over doing it.0

I'm a moderate to heavy coffee drinker, although I've tried to cut back a little since I prefer cream and sugar, which is where the calories come from. I have found switching from dairy creamers to coconut milk creamers has helped lessen the calories a little, and I actually prefer the taste.
I haven't found that it's prevented me from losing weight, though. I just count it in with the rest of my nutrient and caloric intake.0 -
I drink coffee five days a week, at work only, usually one or two cups. What I put into it depends upon my mood and the coffee on hand at the moment.
Basically I like good black coffee, but sometimes it just needs something, so I'll add a splenda and some creamer, other times a coworker and I will splurge on International Delights flavours.
So long as I count the calories I drink in my coffee, it's not going to hinder a thing.0 -
I haven't given up my coffee. I have been drinking about a pot of coffee every day for 40 years. As far as my weight loss goes, I'm maintaining my goal of one pound/week and have been for eleven weeks.
I never drink it black. Sometimes I have some sort of whitener and always have something like sweet n low.

I switched to decaf a few years ago and discovered (to my amazement) that I didn't actually need the caffeine. I'm a naturally high energy person. Recently, I've started drinking it black and I discovered (again, to my amazement) that I don't mind the taste of black coffee if the coffee is great-tasting coffee to start with. I never thought I'd end up drinking black coffee. But, then again, I never thought I'd enjoy exercising either -- and that happened recently, too.

I like coffee. When I don't have it, I don't seem to suffer from caffeine withdrawal. But I like the taste of strong coffee, so as long as there's good coffee around, I will drink a cup or two a day. I usually put a splash of real half and half in, but never anything sweetened. I give it no consideration as to whether it helps weight loss or not.0

I've lost 29 pounds total, still working on the last 10 -12 and I LOVE coffee. I WILL NOT give it up under any circumstance unless my life depends on it. Because right now, my life depends on drinking it.....and so do the lives of others around me!! :drinker:0

caffeinated coffee is kinda a mixed bag when it comes to health and weight loss. on one hand, it causes lipolysis (the breakdown of lipids or fats and the transport of these fats into the blood stream to be used as energy). it also causes epinephrine, norepinephrine and dopamine release in the brain (none of these are bad, in fact it can help improve your mood and even make you happy). however, it also stimulates the release of cortisol and adrenaline (cortisol can cause muscle to be broken down and used as fuel as a glycogen sparing utility and can also cause fat to be stored in the gut (visceral fat)).
it, of course, depends on how much caffeine in coffee you are consuming. coffee can make you feel good but also make you feel stressed out by simulating the fight or flight response. it shouldn't be an issue if you are only having a couple cups of coffee a day.0 -
I drink about 2 cups of coffee every day with Splenda sweetner. It has not hindered my weight loss. Add to that the fact that I also have to have something sweet with my coffee every day. This has not hindered my weight loss either. The only time my weight loss has been hindered is when I go over my cals. So coffee and sweets will not hinder your weight loss, providing they fit into your calories :drinker:0

Somebody once asked me how I can still drink coffee without smoking.
I was like, "If I had to give up coffee along with cigarettes there would be cigarette smoke coming out of my mouth during this sentence."0 -
Coffe is good for you in moderation. If you've cut out creamers n sugar no need to give it up. I use 1 pkt Splenda to sweeten mine in the mornings & I'm just fine. Drink more green tea druing the day, only as it is also good for wiehgt loss & your overall health. Down 30 lbs in 3 mths, 30 to go. (I exercise a lot)0

I only drink a 9oz cup every morning with 2 Splenda or 2 Stevia packets and sugar free liquid flavored creamer. I've lost 30 lbs in less than 3 mos.0

I gave up coffee because the caffeine affected my sleep. I had switched to Teeccino, which I really like but it has 30 calories per cup with nothing added to it. (not pretty after sugar and creamer) I didn't like that, so now I'm back to coffee, decaffeinated. I add Stevia instead of sugar and 2 teaspoons non dairy creamer which brings me to 20 calories per cup. So now I can enjoy 2 cups for less calories than my one cup of Teecino. YAY
ETA: However you enjoy your coffee, it should not affect your weight loss as long as you account for it in your calorie allowance. That goes for any indulgence. Don't deprive yourself of the things you love, just do it smartly.0 -
How many of you who have lost weight continued to drink coffee during your weight loss program? I would not say I am a heavy coffee drinker, (maybe 2 - 3 cups per day) and I never put cream or sugar in it. Have any of you continued to lose weight while drinking coffee? If so, what did you put in it, cream, sugar or coffee whitener? I have a hard time giving up coffee - I tried and I was grumpy and tired. There are also a lot of mixed opinions on coffee promoting or inhibiting weight loss that I am unsure of.
HUH??? Black coffee has ZERO calories. I does not hinder weight loss because.........it has zero calories. Even if you put a bit of cream and sugar in your coffee you'll lose weight. Weight loss is about calorie deficit - log everything you eat and stay in your calorie goal and you'll lose weight.0 -
I love the taste and smell of coffee, but I have to limit myself now to one cup a day. Its not the coffees fault, but I feel like snacking if I have coffee, so I have majorly cut down. I did try making a latte with unsweetened soya milk last night, and I managed not to have a snack with that, and it was only 64 cals.
So coffee in itself isn't bad, its just the things that go with it0 -

I usually just put a splash of two percent milk in mine...I actually gain weight if I'm not drinking coffee because I snack instead! So I figure 20 calories of milk is better then a bag of potato chips!

I drink a lotttt of coffee! It doesn't make a difference - unless you start adding all the junk to it. Just make sure you don't count it as a water for the day and still drink your eight glasses.0

I can never cut out coffee! When I started losing weight I had a 7 week old baby and a 2 year old....caffeine was essential for survival lol. And now that they are nearly 2 and nearly 4 I think I need it even more! Plus I'm a teacher, i think most teachers drink coffee!
I've lost 60lbs so I don't think it stops weight loss. My personal trainer said I should cut back so I am switching to decaf sometimes. I just have a splash of milk in my coffee. When I 'm out I like to get a skinny cappuccino.0 -
