Should I workout today?

Had back-to-back ball practices with my kids on Saturday, so I didn't have time to do the elliptical and Jillian's 30DS. Instead, we walked the half-mile (uphill) to the field, I walked around the track as I waited for them, then we walked the half-mile home (downhill). Now I've got shin splints. I took it easy yesterday with stretches and massage, but I'm still sore today. Should I do 30DS, elliptical, both, or neither?

I would say do your workout. Working through soreness isn't bad. Working through unbearable pain however is.
If you can do the movements and exercises without gritting you teeth in pain, you should be able to complete your workout. Usually when I'm sore, it goes away after a few minutes into my workouts.0 -
A little light exercise should help work out the kinks in your muscles.0

I'd go with the elliptical to give those shins a bit more rest. You took it easy yesterday so get in there and do something today.0 -
Yes, work out.0

Exercise! Even if you do 15-20 minutes, it's better than not doing it.0

You should not even be posing this question.
JUST DO IT0 -
Drink some hot tea of your preference... it'll help warm you up for exercise and I've found that caffeine makes my body forget that it's sore.0

Okay, not everyone has to do high impact workouts. Just do the elliptical if nothing else. I have done 30 DS all the way through but felt terrible the whole time from the jumping around. I feel much better swimming, hiking up hill, pole fitness, elliptical stair climber, etc. even in the same heart range with lower impact. But yes, workout. Also, work on your shins! Look up some threads for exercises to strengthen your shins. There are lots.
I don't know; I've done Couch 2 5K without too much shin trouble but 30 DS just killed 'em for me (as well as my hip flexors and upper back).0 -
IMO suck it up and push through the workout(s) as long as it's soreness not pain. From experience I can tell you that moving those sore muscles actually helps them feel better. And if I used soreness as an excuse I would never exercise. My muscles are always sore from the previous day's workout!0
