Is anyone else TTC while they are working on their weight loss?
I have set my goals very moderately with the intention of hopefully getting pregnant within the next year. I have read that it's okay to diet while TTC as long as you aren't restricting yourself to to the point of starvation (I set myself to 1lb per week) and I intend to go up to my maintenance goals when we conceive and after the 1st trimester add in another 200 calories and then return to trying to lose 1 lb per week after that.
I have been working on losing weight for what seems like forever and have yoyoed a bit and I feel like if we push having a baby back until I am happy with my weight it probably won't happen or at least not any time soon. We have wanted to have a baby since before we got married three years ago and we are finally in a position to do it.
I am just curious if anyone else is in a similar position?

I wasn't really overweight but I was working on losing a few lbs while TTC and it was fine. I was netting about 1200-1400. It's actually a good idea to lose the weight (or be working on it) before you get pregnant so it won't be as hard afterwards with the pregnancy gain. Plus it's better health wise for you and baby. Good luck!0

My doctor said it was a good idea because it would also keep me in the habit of tracking calories when we conceive and it won't be as hard to lower them again after. It's a good way to keep someone from going calorie crazy when pregnant she said lol.0 -
Hi! My husband and I have been TTC for almost 3 months now and I have been trying to lose my last 10 lbs in the process. I am trying to stick to a 1200-1300 calorie diet with regular exercise.0

I agree Mel... I didn't know, I had to guess, but I have also had to guess what NSV is, or SMH or a million other ones.
OP, you don't need to go to a specific forum to ask a question... if that were the case there would be no need for general forums because there would be a 'special group' for each of us.
Yes, it is perfectly ok to try to be healthier while TTC. Don't eat too little though as others have said. Good luck to you and yours!!! :flowerforyou:0 -

I didn't mean to say that she should go there to ask a question, I was letting her know there was one if she was interested. Sometimes posts get lost on the main forums especially when it is a less popular topic. She may get more responses in a group.
Plus, there is a lot to be said for being in one of those groups. Not sure everyone on the main forum is interested responding to my posts about the 2ww (2 week wait).
And she was looking for others who are TTC. A good spot to find them would be in that group.0
