Eating 6 times a day vs. 3 times

Options
Is it really necessary to eat 6 small meals a day like some on here claim? I've ate 3 meals a day for my entire life and find it difficult to change my habits to 6 smaller meals. I just started 22 days ago and I've lost 6 pounds in that span (I'm very happy as I'm meeting my 2 lbs/week goal). I'm just curious to hear your thoughts.

No, it is not necessary. It is personal preference.

No meal timing and frequency are completely irrelevant. And the science:

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19943985

"We conclude that increasing MF does not promote greater body weight loss under the conditions described in the present study."

Makes no difference if you eat all your calories in one meal, or if you eat them in 10 meals. Do what works for you.

As they said ...whatever works for you.

Eating 5 small meals made losing weight easier for me because by the time I got hungry it was time to eat again! I didn't think about food constantly.
