I just did lower body and core workout from this video and I'm not sure how to log it. I logged it as circuit training and it gave me 322 cal for 40 min. That seems high, but when I tried entering it as strength training, that seemed low at like 140 cal. I got my heartrate up way more than when I lift weights because there are intervals of cardio an the whole worout is pretty fast paced. I guess the higher number could be right, but I don't want to over estimate. I don't have an HRM and I can't afford one right now so any helpful feed back other than suggesting I buy an HRM would be most welcome. Thanks everyone!

Are you asking for other suggestions for circuit training dvds? If so, I have done:
30 DaySHred, Jari Love Ripped 1000 & Extremely Ripped 1000, Cathe Low Impact Circuit, High Step Challenge & Drill Max, Kelli Roberts Step it Strong, Results 10 Days to a Better Body, Kelly Coffey Myer Bootcamp...& I'm sure many others!!

Although I can't compare the above dvds to Jackie's because I haven't done that one.

Were your calories burned as high as the estimates I found? I'm just trying to figure out the best way to log this...

basically the video did I think 4 minutes of strength, one minute each of 4 different exercises, followed by one minute of cardio that went along with the previous exercises. For example, we did squats, then like three different kinds of lunges then the cardio was I think running, but lifting the knees high and tapping each knee as it came up for a minute. There were four different sets done like this for a total of twenty minutes. I did the lower body and core and each had this kind of set up and totaled 40 minutes altogether. Does this sound like it should be logged as circuit training? It was pretty tough stuff, I sweated a ton and my heart rate got up there

When I look up that dvd on collagevideo.com, it says interval training. So I wouldn't do just plain strength training. Interval style workouts are actually some of my highest calorie burners, but again, I haven't done this particular one. Hope that helps!

That sounds like circuit training to me. That's how I log my workouts that are very much like that. Circuit training really does burn a lot more calories than weight training with a lot of resting between sets.

Thank you for looking that up! Is interval training the same as circuit training? It sounds the same...

Well, lately I think the market considers them the same. But in "true" circuit training your heartrate pretty much stays in the same zone, like steady state cardio. Interval training is more along the lines of pushing your heartrate to the max for a short interval...2-3 minutes...and then going into an active recovery for like a minute...alternating back & forth (hence, "intervals"). Hopefully that makes sense?
