Losing the last kg(s) and toning

I am a 51yr old guy, I am currently struggling to lose the last kilos (last weight in was 79kg). I only started to re-use myfitnesspal to record food intake. Exercise wise, I am going back to full fitness after an operation last November, I still can't push myself as much as I would like for risk of hernia. Ideally I would love to drop to about 75kg, and at the same time drop my body fat %.

I estimate training pretty full on, but maybe I am missing something. Or is it the case that once you pass 50, your body is never going to be that "good"

Any ideas/advice, experience sharing from 50+ people would be great
