I agree with Katy_trail. It is really about staying within your calorie count. Since I have joined MFP February 2013, I have taken some different steps on changing the way I eat, but it has not been drastic. I want to feel like I am making a LIFESTYLE change, not putting myself on a diet. I don't deprive myself of certain things because I don't want to be in a situation of over-eating something that is not good for me. The main thing that helps is exercise. I love the fact that when I track my exercise time, I'm getting more calories that I can have added to my tracker. Although I don't go over, I just love seeing that I am well within my daily calorie intake.

YUMMY! One of my favorite treats - sugar free jello w/cool whip and bananas and/or berries! Oh yes!

Probably contains aspartame for an artificial sweetener. This converts in the body to formaldehyde, a major toxin, it is used to preserve dead bodies. You can still get an insulin response to sugar free things, and some research suggests sugar free things give you a craving for more sweets! Give yourself real sugar but watch your calories. Also, if it has sugar alcohols instead of sugar, it can make your bloated and gassy, and even have a laxative effect if consumed too much.

    Exactly!!!

From Pubmed.gov about artificial sweeteners .. not that I am into them much at all myself but you don't need to be scared of them.

Are you gullible enough to take advice on food from a government website? Go directly to reputable scientific research for answers. I wish people would get thoroughly educated before flouting opinions like they are in a position to.

I thought the registered dietician would be a trustworthy source. This is what he said..."Artificial sweeteners are fine. These have been extensively researched and there is no need to fear them." Then gave the source below. I shouldn't trust him?

Yet on a recent thread, posters were asked for reputable scientific studies showing artificial sweeteners IN SENSIBLE MODERATE AMOUNTS were dangerous and none could be provided.

Eat artificial sweetners or dont - and in answer to OP, I think a sugar free jello here and there is fine - but enough of this over zealous scare mongering about it.

Will it stop you from losing weight? At only 40-80 cals extra per day? Uhm, not unless you're eating a bucket of it...and not moving much. It might not be "the healthiest snack" by some fear mongers' reasoning but it has gelatin in it - good for the joints and bones!

I eat it. What else can you eat for a snack that's 10 calories, no fat, the biggie NO CARBS, and it has protein in it. People will say good and bad in it, but I figure it's better then what I used to eat that made me 44 pounds heavier.

Agreed. The government also tells us that milk is healthy because the milk industry is such a big part of our economy. We are the only species to drink milk after infancy. And it isn't even human milk, it's from a pregnant cow. Cow's milk is made for a baby cow to grow larger in a short amount of time. It has IGF-1 factors, and 15 different variations of androgenic hormones. Puss cells, and casien which is known to cause cancer in large amounts. This is probably the reason for early development in children in schools, acne, inflammation, and other problems.
