Daily goal vs weekly goal

Ok so this question that has been on my mind for a while and i was wondering if anyone had a for sure answer. The mobile app has a feature where you can look and see how many calories you have remaining or have gone over in the span of a week. Theoretically if I one day eat 500 calories over my daily goal, can I still recorrect my error by leaving 500 calories remaining over the span of the remaining week? Naturally I am guessing this only works to an extent, if at all, but how far can i take it before it is no longer effective.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

If your calorie total for the week is below the goal every week, theoretically you should lose weight every week. Calories in vs calories out.0
