HIIT Training

I recently started doing HIIT training to help increase my running speed and jump start my weight loss. I don't really know what I'm doing but I made up my on routine based on things I've read. Can anyone give me some pointers on if I'm doing it properly?
This is my routine:
5 min warm up @ 3mph, 1% incline
10 cycles-30 sec sprint (6mph) 30 sec rest (sometimes 45 sec) @ 10% incline.
5 min cool down

I try to do this 2-3 times each week mixed in with my 2 days of running outside when the weather permits. Any advice would be appreciated!
